Head of Research and Development

by Mark Rowe

HKC, the UK manufacturer of intruder alarms, has appointed Gerard Riney as Head of Research and Development. With over ten years in security technology, Gerard, pictured, brings knowledge in hardware design, embedded firmware, cloud infrastructure and connected security products.

He has brought multiple alarm system components to market and delivered integrations with access control and mobile applications. Gerard will oversee the lifecycle of product development, from the initial concept to delivery and innovation. He will lead HKCโ€™s engineering teams throughout the process, the company adds, so that new and existing products continue to meet the evolving needs of HKCโ€™s installers and customers.

He will also work closely alongside other areas of the business to ensure research and development aligns with HKCโ€™s commercial and strategic goals. Gerard said: โ€œHKCโ€™s strong market position in Ireland, combined with its ambition to expand, makes this an exciting time to be leading R&D. Iโ€™m looking forward to building on our reputation for innovation and reliability, helping shape the next generation of security solutions and supporting HKCโ€™s continued success.

โ€œMy aim within this role is to make R&D a driver of sustainable growth and to create a culture of creativity, collaboration and technical excellence. We have a fantastic opportunity to not only strengthen our position in Ireland but also to explore new markets with integrations made possible by ASSA ABLOY.โ€
