Dallmeier at Perimeter Protection

by Mark Rowe

The German video security product manufacturer Dallmeier is among the exhibitors at the Perimeter Protection exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany, from January 14 to 16. Dallmeierโ€™s new Panomera S4 Perimeter, pictured, has been developed for perimeter protection in sensitive areas. The product offers a special optical geometry and two complementary AI instances, the makers report.

The trade fair presents integrated security technology and perimeter protection โ€“ with a focus on securing outdoor areas and buildings in sensitive areas. Visitors to the Dallmeier stand (Hall 2, Stand 2-506) can also see a presentation on โ€œVideo revolution at the perimeter: Specially trained AI meets multifocal sensor technologyโ€ by Josua Braun, Chief Revenue Officer at Dallmeier on the middle day of the three-day show, January 15, from 10:20am to 10:40am in the free to attend forum. Besides insights into the Panomera system, and AI performance you can see a short product demo.

Fence length of 200 metres

The Panomera S4 Perimeter combines multifocal sensors with โ€œPerimeter AIโ€ and โ€œAI Tamper Detectionโ€ trained for perimeter protection. The optics, consisting of four lenses and sensors with different focal lengths, provide image quality with high resolution over the entire distance, even in difficult lighting the makers say. The solution offers coverage of up to 200 metres of fence length with a resolution density of 125 pixels per metre.

Perimeter AI and Tamper AI

Equipped with a neural network trained for perimeter protection, the Panomera S4 Perimeter detects people with unusual postures and movement patterns. Even people wearing camouflage such as Camouflage Central Europe, British Smock or Ghillie are detected, the makers add. The AI Tamper Detection application supports the detection of tampering attempts that are typical at a perimeter. Besides such methods as twisting, defocussing, spraying and covering the camera or infra-red (IR) lights, blinding the camera with a laser pointer, flashlight or strobe light is also detected. Indirect tampering by fogging the detection area with pyrotechnics such as smoke grenades or smoke pots is detected and alerted. The mix of both analytics provides detection of intrusion attempts with it’s claimed a very low error and false alarm rate.

Infrastructure solution

Besides security performance thanks to better overview and dual AI, the Panomera perimeter also offers an advantage in terms of total cost of ownership, the makers add. The fact that fewer cameras are required reduces infrastructure costs and the number of operators required for live monitoring. The mix of trained Perimeter AI and Tamper AI detects even highly professional behaviour and complex manipulation attempts, according to the manufacturer. The system thus provides a solution for monitoring properties, company premises and โ€œsterile zonesโ€ of all kinds.
